Laoling Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Southernmost Jilin. The Laoling Gr was named by the Party of Regional Geological Survey, Jilin Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1976. The type locality is situated in Laoling Mountain, Hunjiang City, southern Jilin Province.
Synonym: (老岭群)
Lithology and Thickness
The Laoling Gr is dominated by dolomitic marble, schist (staurolite and quartz schist), quartzite and phyllite, locally migmatized. The Laoling Gr is an upward succession of the Dataishan Fm, Zhenzhumen Fm, Huashan Fm, Linjiang Fm and Dalizi Fm. Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The contact relation of the group with underlying Ji'an Gr is unknown.
Upper contact
Schematic stratigraphic section shows next higher regional unit is a Baifangzi Fm of Qingbaikouan (Tonian) (not in Lexicon). Regionally, next higher unit is the mid-Lower Tonian age Miaoshan Fm (SE Jilin).
Regional extent
Southernmost Jilin. The group spreads in south and central parts of Jilin, on west side of Laoling Mt. As a vast northeast trending zone, it extends west to Liaoning Province and south into Korea.
